Badd Ass Bagger(AKA King of the road)

I met Brent several years ago and wrote a feature on his Dyna (Docs Dyna). A 1998 FXD he brought new off Metho Tom, Blacktown Harley. An Orthodontist by trade Brent makes spinal braces and callipers and orthotics and custom shoes for people with foot problems hence the Doc in the title. I also described Brent as a bike nut and that is confirmed three fold with his numerous trips to the United States every other year to attend biker events and biker legend workshops and dealerships.

Brent has learnt a lot on his visits and this is evident in the cool rides he owns and has customised, the Bad Ass bagger is the third of his line of cool custom rides the middle child is a cool Deluxe we hope to feature in the near future. It was Brent who named the bagger but when I saw the bike on the road and how it stopped traffic that old riff from Rodger Millers 1964 song King of the road came ringing through my head. The bike is long, wide and low and has a comfortable riding position without losing its attitude and the attention to detail is second to none with quality accessories and a drop dead spray job by Joe Webb adds to the bikes intrigue with its ghosting and detail.

Brent side of the story

A couple of years ago I went to Sturgis with a couple of mates and was blown away with the baggers and to what extent their customising them!! CRAZY. When I arrived back home I told my boys I wanted to build a bagger, and the remark I got back was (They are for old guys). I think the wife already knew as I was sitting at the computer for hours looking at baggers and parts available. A few months later flew over to see Arizona Bike Week with a couple of mates with the intention of organising some parts and having them shipped over here, but that didn’t happen as I was having so much of a blast riding around the U.S. for a couple of weeks. So when I got back it all started, I purchased a 2012 Road King and all I did was rode it up the driveway. The wife made me promise to take her for a ride before I pulled it to pieces, but with shitty weather and work it didn’t happen, so one weekend the weather was shit again, I told the wife I was going up the shed to start dismantling the bike, by the end of the day, I called her up into the shed to show her, and she said OMG do you know what you’re doing as it certainly doesn’t look like $30 thousand worth now!! I said have faith.

After most of the parts arrived I started putting it together ,many parts were given to a good mate of mine to powder coat as I didn’t want any chrome. But you would be surprised as too how many parts I gave him week after week and what a job he did. Most of the body parts are from Sinister industries, as they were easy to deal with, I have parts from Jim Nasi’s and many parts from Carl Brouhard, who we met in Black Hills and was a top guy. The wheels are Colorado customs, 26’’x4’’ front and 17’’x51/2’’ Rear. The brakes, hydraulic clutch and neck kit is Hawg Halters, The Air cleaner and Headers are Vance and Hines, the mufflers are CFR with custom Nasi tips. Arnott Air Ride and PM hand controls with Russell Performance hidden lines and fittings. It’s a great bike to ride and gets noticed everywhere I go, I can also say I’m proud of how it finished. I would like to give a big thanks to my good mate Dick Chivers who did the raking of the neck with me, Dave from Bad Arse Trimming, The Maestro Joe Webb from Bad Image Paint for his help and ideas, Vinnie Surace for his help, and last of all to my beautiful wife Tracy and my boys, Blake and Reece for all their support from start to finish.
