Gunz and the Geisha

It’s just as well I had my Lawless shirt on and I was able to pull a Chick! Because ‘Gunz’ (the blue Hectic Chopper) owner and builder Ken (Cobra Craft) are both camera shy! The Beautiful Ava had no problem stepping up! I thought it was the shirt but apparently not Ava loves Harley’s. More on Ava later! We are Lawless after all.

The bike’s name is ‘Gunz’, a 2008 Cobra Craft Blue Hectic Chopper. Builder ‘Ken’ from Cobra Craft is one of those true craftsman who not only builds knock-out custom choppers, he also as the business name suggest builds AC Shelby Cobra replicas from his workshop in Peakhurst in Sydney’s South. (Visiting the shop is an experience in itself with a collection of bikes and cool cars scattered all over the workshop floor. Up stairs on the mezzanine is where much of the magic happens, the mezzainie is home to all his metal fabrication machines and where the self taught metal worker, Ken fabricates everything from mudguards to tanks and handle bars to name a few.) Whilst being one of the most talented blokes in the industry modest Ken was happy for Gunz and his new best friend Ava to get all the attention, so I guess we will start with Gunz.

As mentioned Gunz is a 2008 Cobra Craft Hectic Chopper in Blue. The frame is a 2008 SMW adjustable air 330 wide arse Soft Tail with 40 degree rake and mid west forks and 5 degree triple tree’s. Wheels are 21” RC on the front and 18” 330 RC on the rear with HHI calipers and RC component rotors and Avon tyres. The triple trees are crowned with Cobra Craft Custom bars and risers with Custom Chrome hand controls and a custom LED headlight. In keeping with the theme the tail light is also Custom Chrome.

A Dakota digital dash, Arlenn Ness mirrors and axle covers finish off the front end. Front and rear fenders are Cobra Craft Custom and oil tank and fuel tank SMW.

Pegs and grips are Pro One Flamed, forward controls Performance Machine.

Now for my favorite part of the bike, its ballsy 140cube Diamond Cut Ultima with 6 speed chrome Ultima right side drive, BDL 3” open primary with BDL clutch.

Fuel, spark and exhaust is by way of a HSR 48 Mikuni with Wimmer spike air filter and breathers, Cran H14 Ignition and Vance and Hines/Cobra Craft pipes. You know your alive when you feel the tremors and hear the sweat note from the Ultima, one could only imagine what she’d go like! Special thanks must also go out to Andrew at Clockworks Customs for the electrical.

With all this talk of hot blooded tremors and sweat brings us back to our girl Ava. 22 year old Ava Honeysette came to the rescue. With no owner or builder to photograph, Ava jumped at the opportunity saying she’d love to model for OzBike. Ava’s family always had bikes and the gorgeous Ava was brought up riding motox bikes until her high school years. Since then Ava’s dad has only owned Harley Davidsons and she has only been able to go on very few rides with dad but loves it. When asked what her favorite asset was, Ava was quick to say her back especially now with her geisha girl and koy fish tatt. The tatt came about when a good friend drew the geisha for Ava as a mark of respect to her fathers mother (her grandmother) and her Japanese heritage. The drawing was half the size and was only going to be on one side of her back but just didn’t look right! So Sam from 119 Bondi decided to enlarge it. It looked so good Ava took the plunge and she went for it. 10 hours and three sessions later Ava had her ‘Pin Up’ style Geisha. Ava always wanted a Koi Fish so she decided to incorporate it in the Tatt. If you take a close look you’ll notice the Koi is swimming upwards which is good luck! I should be so lucky?
